John Janczy completed his Ph.D. at University of Iowa in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Immunology in 2014. Upon receiving his degree, he began a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado – Anschutz Medical Center Department of Immunology and Microbiology. In addition to continuing his research on the regulation of inflammatory responses, he was one of the founders of the Academic-Industry Alliance, a group for post-docs and graduate students which seeks to drive collaborations and hiring between UC and local biotech companies in Denver. Through his work with the AIA, John was offered the position of Lead Immunologist at Nanoly Bioscience, located at the UC biotechnology incubator. Within a year of joining Nanoly, John was promoted to Head of Research and Development, where he leads a team of scientists developing NanoShield–a compound designed to eliminate the need for vaccine refrigeration.
